Come and enjoy early season riding with ideal weather as we circle San Diego County. We start in Mission Bay, San Diego with the first days ride up the coast. From here the tour covers the scenic rural areas including the hills of the north, and climbs to Mt. Palomar and Laguna Mountain. We stay in Fallbrook, Valley Center, Warner Springs and Julian. A descent into Borrego Springs gives us a taste of the desert in bloom. Bring your low gears as this tour involves 30,000 feet of outstanding climbs and exhilarating descents. Expect temperatures of 60-80 with little chance of rain.

Day 1 Mission Bay - Fallbrook (April 23) (~60 mi) takes us up to Mt. Soledad in La Jolla, with  360 degree views of Mission Bay, downtown San Diego and the UC San Diego campus. From here we follow coast roads (including a ride through Torrey Pines SP) and enjoy the ocean smells and sounds of the surf to Oceanside; then we head inland to Fallbrook.

Day 2 Fallbrook - Fallbrook   (~ 45 mi, options for less or day off) offers European type twisty climbs and descents through the hills of northern San Diego County.

Day 3 Fallbrook - Harrahs Rincon (~55 mi, options for less) we ride through remote Rice and Couser canyons and head for a night at Harrah’s Rincon casino..

Day 4 Rincon - Warner Springs Ranch  (~48 mi) is a  delight as we follow the route of the Tour of California to Mt. Palomar, and an optional trip to the Observatory, and an optional loop  through picturesque Mesa Grande.

Day 5 Warner Springs Ranch gives us a rest day at Warner Springs Ranch Resort with swimming, hot springs, horseback riding, golf, tennis, and hiking options.  www.warnersprings.com

Day 6 Warner Springs - Julian (~58 mi) via Borrego Springs gives us a taste of the desert as we descend several thousand feet to Borrego Springs , where we have a chance for an ice cream and rest before we climb to Julian, home of the not-to-be-missed Julian apple pies. www.julianca.com

Day 7 Julian - Julian (~70 mi or day off/local ride) we tackle the famous Cuyamaca loop and Mt. Laguna before returning to Julian, or you may choose shorter local rides and more rest.

Day 8 Julian - Mission Bay (~82 miles) brings us back to the coast on some very scenic and quiet roads. There are several smaller climbs along a route that provides an overall 4k descent. Because this is a long day, lodging on the last night (April 30) is provided.
